The Voronet Monastery  

  

  Voronet Monastery - its saint patron is "St. Gheorghe". It houses nuns.

  Location 

in Voronet , a part of Gura Humorului town, in the district of Suceava, 5 km south west of Gura Humorului, 36 km east of Câmpulung Moldovenesc and 41km south west of Suceava

The Voronet Monastery

   The monastery was founded by Stefan cel Mare si Sfant prince a resized in 1547 by Grigorie Rosca Metropolitan. The architecture of the "Moldavian style of the epoch" has gothical’s decorations and elements.

  Mural Pictures 

were in fresco; the pictures from the altar and the nave are owing to Grigorie Rosca Metropolitan (1547); the pictures from the threshold and the pre-nave’s exterior walls are owing to Teofan Metropolitan (1550). The external pictures are on the special color - "albastru de Voronet" (the Voronet’s blue color), which was made by Marcu pristav.

The Voronet Monastery

 

   The monastery accommodates many valuable objects, two old icons since Stefan cel Mare si Sfant period, the icons since 16th and 17th centuries. In the church are the relics of Daniil Sihastru and Grigore Rosca Metropolitan’s shrine.

The monastery is an UNESCO monument, declared in the catalogue of "the great world’s monuments".
