at 12 km from the ancient royal town of Moldavia - Suceava-
there is the Dragomirna Cloister, built during the first three decades of the XVII-th
century.

The DRAGOMIRNA Monastery |
The history of the cloister begins in 1602, by the building
of the small church, which was devoted to the saints Enoh, Ilie (Elias) and Ion
(John) the Teologist, and continues during the following years by the sectification, in
1609, of the big church with the patron saint of "The descending of the Holy
Spirit".

The DRAGOMIRNA Monastery |
Craciun maties, Ignat and Gligore, local
artists, concentrated on the nave (Pantocrator, medallions), producing a unitary ensemble
punctuated with elements borrowed from the environment, harmonious from a
chromaticviewpoint, and relevant: " On looking to the cupola and arcade with the
unbelievable splendour resulting from the matching of the architecture with the painting
and the natural light, one feels just like writer Procopie felt on contemplating the huge
cupola of Justinian's foundation, St Sofia... that it rests lees on the walls, rather
hanging at the end of a golden chain directly from the sky"
